and had joined hands to co-produce a movie together - Battle of Saragarhi with in the lead. had announced the same on Twitter on January 2, 2017. He had posted, "Coming together for a film produced by friends, @BeingSalmanKhan and @karanjohar, starring me! Out in 2018."
In the film, Akshay Kumar will be playing Havaldar Ishar Singh, the military commander of 21 Sikh soldiers during British India who on 12 September 1897, during what came to be famously known as the Battle Of Saragarhi, led his men through a deathly battle against thousands of Afghani invaders.
While both the audience and the trade was gung-ho about this project, recent buzz suggested that the movie has been shelved. Reportedly, the project that was announced in January 2017 was to go on-floors in mid-2017. Apparently, neither Akshay Kumar nor Salman Khan have any free dates till 2018.
Later, reports of Salman Khan opting out of the movie also grabbed headlines. Reportedly, Salman Khan wasn't aware that his friend is also making a movie on the same subject. He was told by Karan Johar and his ex-manager Reshma Shetty that Ajay has shelved the project. But when Salman caught up with Ajay on the sets of Baadshaho, he learnt that Ajay Devgn's movie on the same subject is very much on track. That irked Khan, who decided to not be a part of the co-production.
Today, in an interview, when Akshay Kumar was asked about the movie, he said, "Battle of Saragarhi is happening."
When quizzed if Salman Khan is still producing it, Akshay admitted, "That is being figured out!"
Akshay's reply is a hint to all the reports doing the rounds and we have read between the lines. How about you?
